Mō te tūranga: About the role
Casual Keeper positions available within our Mammals Animal Care Team (a mix of carnivores and herbivores and Ostrich).
A successful candidate will be responsible for the daily husbandry, welfare and care of a variety of species, including but not limited to habitat maintenance and management, specialised diet preparations, enrichment programmes and animal training. There’s also a good amount of proactively engaging with Zoo visitors and answering their questions; observing animal behaviour; plus lots of thorough record keeping.

He kōrero mōu: About you
- Able to be flexible and work when required. This may include public holidays, and may primarily include weekends,
- Experience working within the Animal Care Industry including practical husbandry work with animals.
- Currently studying or has completed study in a subject related qualification (desirable).
- Have a good level of fitness due to the nature and requirements of the role (and our terrain).
- Self-motivated. Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills; willing to proactively engage with visitors and colleagues.
