Mō te tūranga | About the role We have Casual roles available in our Visitor Services team. 

Visitor Service Advisors are the first point of contact for our valued visitors including school groups, venues guests, and Zoo crew members. Our collaborative and friendly team will help you become skilled on all things admissions, retail, venues and commercial products such as our Close Encounters. You will be on your feet all day, thriving on the variety the role will bring. 

Te Nukuao Wellington Zoo is open every day of the year, with the exception of Christmas Day.  Casual work may be offered across weekdays, weekends, and public holidays.  

You may also be asked if you’d like to help with the occasional evening event during the week. 

Applicants should expect to be available to work between 26 December 2026 and 4 January 2027. As this is a particularly busy time of year for us, your support will help ensure our visitors have a positive and enjoyable experience.

• Known for your skilled customer service
• A quick learner and a confident problem-solver
• Known to have a friendly and approachable manner
• Level-headed and calm under pressure
• A natural at communicating and building rapport/trust 
• Self- motivated with a focus on getting things done well
• Computer literate and confident with technology 
• Some level of fitness if you are needed elsewhere in the zoo (we are on a hill!)
